Gantry cranes, stone industry
Thanks to its geographical location MGS (in Versilia, in Tuscany region) has developed an extraordinary know how in the field of lifting, and becoming a reference point in a district where the stone sector (marble in particular) is the primary industry. Strong with this experience, the company exports this type of machine worldwide.
The cranes used in this sector are usually ,characterized by an average use (A4÷M4 / A5÷M5), lifting speeds medium/low at 3 m/min, 18 m/min, cross travel, and 30 m/min, long travel. The speeds are usually chosen by the Customer. The span can reach up to 60 meters and the outreaches might be as long as over 10 meters.
Gantry cranes, steel industry
In this sector the gantry cranes are mainly used within scrap yards and consequently they are equipped electro-hydraulic crab, or magnets that clamp and move all types of ferrous product. these cranes are usually equipped with magnets or clamps necessary, the tackle and handling of those products that might reach temperatures of 600° C; the use of rotating hoist-trolleys or rotating traverse allow the complete turning of 360° of the product.
As, the coils handling special traverses are used in order to provide a safe and easy handling procedure. As used in continuous cycle plants (up to 24/24 hours, 350 days/year) these cranes are placed in high duty classes (A7÷M7 / A8÷M8, as per rules 9.511 - Rules, Design of Serial Lifting Equipments, ISO 4301 88 - Classification of lifting equipment).
Gantry Crane, port/yachting/shipyard sector
In the shipyard sector there can be easily found two types of gantry cranes:
-Cranes, the handling of boats and yachts: MGS engineers and produces cranes, the handling of boats and luxury yachts of important size and weight, thanks to special belts to lift them. Those cranes are typically used during the maintenance phases on the docks and are equipped with rubber tires.
-Ship assembly cranes: those lifting cranes are used, the handling of the components during the construction of the main structure of a ship. In these machines the average duty classification ranges from A5÷M5 / A6÷M6 and are equipped, the handling of steel plates such as traverses on which there are magnets installed, and anti-swinging devices, and usually with the rotating trolley and traverses. Given the size of the components to be handled, the cranes might be built with a “rectangle profile” to allow the materials to be moved in correspondence of the supporting legs to extend the load to the outreaches of the crane.
MGS also produces cranes, the containers within ports. These lifting machines are characterized by a high working capacity both in tonnage and working hours and conditions that are particularly adverse in terms of winds and salt.
The classification of these machines that have to work 24 hours per day, 350 days per year are engineered and built in the A7÷M7 / A8÷M8 class, as well as restrictive parameters given by the environment in which they have to operate.
Containers handling cranes can be either configured in the classical designed with the steel wheels running on a rail or with rubber tires, according to the specific requirements by the client.
